"Bracken"

Last week I did this painting of my friend Linda's dog, Bracken. I find when I paint an animal I have to make a connection with them, I made the connection with Bracken long before I picked up my brush. Very sadly, Bracken died on Friday ... rest in peace lovely lady!

Poor Bracken Ingrid. That is a beautiful portrait of a beautiful dog. Very touching. Linda must be missing him terribly at the moment.

Thank you Pete! :) You and I both know the worry and anguish a 'poorly pet' gives. My heart aches for Linda and her family, and I know the courage it took for her to take the step she did. I took that step in the summer with my dog who had the same illness as Bracken. I still miss Faith but have no regrets, I did what I had to do for her.
Thanks for stopping by Pete ... :)

How sad Ingrid, and she looks a lovely dog. I'm so sorry to hear about Faith as well.

Thank you Keith! :) We have decided no more dogs for us, Faith was so hard to lose. In saying that we are looking after my daughters two dogs for the week, hence my being up at at 5.00am. Something disturbed them at 4.00 and I can't get back to sleep. I am enjoying having them though. :)

Although I posted about Bracken on the forum, I just wanted you to know what a wonderful thing you did for your friend with your painting.
We have all been there, done that and my heart goes out to Linda. We all share that same sinking feeling .. BJ
